Museums are throwing open their doors after hours on 20 May. The Can Framis Museum has organised a host of activities to coincide with this special event which is being held across Europe. This year we offer four open events:
Open Doors
Free entry to the Can Framis Museum between 7 pm and 1 am to visit the collection – consisting of over 300 paintings by both established and emergent contemporary Catalan artists – and the temporary exhibition Esborradís by the internationally-recognised Catalan artist Jordi Alcaraz.
Art in loop
Between 7 pm and 11.30 pm the Can Framis Museum is holding a total of 10 guided visits of the painting collection, the temporary exhibition by Jordi Alcaraz, and the building itself. With visits starting approximately every hour, sessions of art and architecture are available in loop so that you do not miss the chance to get to grips with a major collection of contemporary Catalan art and enjoy avant-garde architectural design offering a new take on a late-18th-century wool factory.
20 paces, 100 years of history
The Can Framis Museum is juxtaposing art with its past and its present in a session involving live creation directly onto the walls in the square outside the museum.
From 7 pm to 10 pm members of the Barcelona Academy of Art in Poblenou will create murals in chalk referring to the past and present of the Can Framis factory complex.
*Activity may be cancelled in the event of bad weather.
A l’atelier
For this activity the museum will enable the meeting between art and muse in a creative session by students in real time, open to viewing by the public. Between 9 pm and 11 pm members of the Barcelona Academy of Art will set up their easels in the Can Framis square and replicate the atmosphere of work and inspiration of a classic atelier as well as the technological one of the 21st century.
*Activity may be cancelled in the event of bad weather.
