The Can Mario Museum in Palafrugell is again taking part in the ninth Flors i Violes (Flowers and Violas) festival, running from 28 April to 1 May. The festival is taking place in several towns on the Costa Brava, including Palafrugell, Calella, Llafranc, and Tamariu, and features a range of shows and activities. The Can Mario Museum is taking part, for another year, by converting its foyer into a space for art and music.
Featured this year is the installation Les flors de Lakmé by local artist Rosa Aguiló. It is a work which finds its inspiration in the “flower duet” from the opera Lakmé, which recreates in music the garden in which Lakmé and her servant Mallika are overcome by the charm of flowers.
Also, on all four days at 12 noon and 7 pm, there will be a recital by the flautist Guillem Payaró of a selection of arias from French operas and pieces written for the flute. The composers L. Delibes, G. Bizet and M. Marais are featured in an artistic setting which, for the rest of the year, is usually the preserve of contemporary Catalan sculpture.
Free entry.
