Carles Amill Ferrari (Barcelona, 1953-Reus, 2004) was a cosmopolitan artist of his terroir, in the sense that he recognised that the essence of the universe is to be found in ones roots. Winner of awards from three continents during his artistic career, he was a mover in the 1970’s of the Reus School of Fine Art together with Salvador Juanpere and Aureli Ruiz. In the latter years of the 1980’s he moved to the US where his creative work was recognised with awards from the Fundación Domeq and the Delaware Division of the Arts Fellowship. He spent his final years in the Baix Camp region of Catalonia, where he painstakingly worked on his most ambitious work, which remained unfinished.
On Thursday 27 October at 7 pm, the Espai Volart will be the venue for the ceremony marking the donation of his piece untitled (1991) to the Fundació Vila Casas collection. The event will be hosted by Ramon Gomis, doctor and writer, and Antoni Salcedo, Chair of History of Art.
